![]() We observed that perhaps the mealworms didn’t prefer the tangerine as much as the strawberry and the peach because the tangerine is dry on the outside, as oppose to the peach and the strawberry. A total of 9 mealworms preferred the peach and 8 mealworms preferred the piece of strawberry over the span of the two attempts. Observation/Explanation: Our observation as you can see is that there was a close connection between the piece of the peach and the piece of the strawberry. *Note: The Pupa did not move towards any specific piece of fruit. * See Fruit Chart at the top of this page* In order to show our results from both attempts, we have made the following chart. Results: Surprisingly, there were mealworms at or by each piece of fruit for the two attempts with this experiment. Our question is: Which pieces of fruit will the mealworms like better? Do they even like fruit? We will observe this tomorrow morning and for a second attempt, again at supper time the next day. We left the three pieces of fruit in overnight. We also put a piece of a strawberry and a piece of a tangerine. The piece of the peach was out of a fruit cup with peaches and syrup. Investigation: We put a piece of a peach in our mealworm box. Inquiry: Do mealworms like fruit? If so, which fruit do they like more? Peach, tangerine, or strawberry?
